When a medicine or medical device is hard to find at home, knowing where to turn matters. Medocta helps you explore UK sourcing and delivery options for yourself or a loved one abroad, including in Ghana.
An enquiry comes first. Availability, suitability and delivery are confirmed before you decide.
Arrange support for a loved one
Review the quote before deciding
Discuss suitable delivery options
A practical way to help
You can be there for them, wherever you are.
For example, you live in the UK and your parent in Accra cannot find an item their care team has recommended. You can ask Medocta to explore availability, explain the next steps and discuss how it could reach them.
Prescription medicines
Request help checking UK availability for a prescribed medicine. Share its exact name, strength, form and quantity when discussing the request.
An authorised pharmacy or prescriber confirms the supply requirements. Further assessment or a UK-valid prescription may be needed.
Medical devices
Ask about equipment such as a blood pressure monitor, glucose monitoring supplies or a mobility aid. Bring the exact model or your care team’s recommendation.
Check specifications, compatible consumables, power requirements and warranty arrangements before choosing a device.
How it works
From a request to an agreed plan.
A clear process, with the important checks and costs discussed before anything is purchased or sent.
01
Tell us what you need
Send the item name, strength or device model, quantity and destination. Let us know if you are arranging this for yourself, a relative or a patient.
02
Review the request
Our team discusses availability and the documents needed. Prescription medicines require review by an appropriately authorised pharmacy or prescriber; devices may need a clinician’s recommendation.
03
Check the delivery route
The supplier and delivery provider need to confirm that the item can be supplied, exported and imported at the destination. We discuss permits, customs documents and any special handling.
04
Agree your quote
Review the item price, any clinical or dispensing fees, coordination and delivery costs, and any known import charges. Confirm the recipient, delivery method and expected timeframe before approving the arrangement.
05
Arrange supply and dispatch
Once the required reviews, permissions and agreed payment are complete, supply and suitable packaging can be arranged. We confirm dispatch and share tracking information where the chosen service provides it.
06
Receive and check your item
The recipient follows any local clearance instructions, then checks the item and packaging on arrival. Tell our team promptly about damage, a missing item or a delivery issue so the next steps can be discussed.
The journey matters too
Delivery that fits the request.
Tell us your preference. We will discuss which routes are available and suitable for the item and destination.
Delivery to the recipient
Door-to-door shipping
A courier or shipping service to an agreed address, where available. A useful option for suitable devices or parcels that need a coordinated handover.
Address coverage, tracking, handling and customs responsibilities are confirmed in your quote.
A faster postal option
Express post
A priority postal route for eligible items when a faster service is available. The carrier must accept the item and the destination route.
Delivery estimates and tracking depend on the service. Customs clearance can add time.
When timing is more flexible
Standard post
A regular postal service for eligible items that can travel safely by this route. It may suit a request with a more flexible delivery window.
The expected timeframe and any tracking or collection arrangements are confirmed before dispatch.
Medicines requiring temperature control and items subject to restrictions may need a specialist route. Express delivery does not remove prescription, export, import or customs requirements.
Before you get in touch
A few details make it easier.
The medicine name, strength and form, or the device brand, model and specification.
The quantity needed, destination country and city, and your preferred delivery option.
Any relevant prescription or care-team recommendation, ready to share through the method our team explains.
The patient’s permission if you are acting on their behalf, and an agreed person to receive the item.
Know what you are agreeing to.
Before approving a purchase, review the item and quantity, total quoted costs, any charges payable at the destination, delivery estimate and cancellation or return conditions. Ask about insurance and warranty support for a device.
Medocta coordinates the request. Prescribing and dispensing decisions belong to appropriately authorised professionals, and import clearance belongs to the destination authorities. We cannot promise that every request can proceed.
You do not need to figure out the whole process alone. Start with an enquiry and our team will discuss the request, the checks needed and the next step.
If a medicine is needed urgently, contact the patient’s local care team. International sourcing and delivery can take time.

Your questions, answered
A little clarity before you start.
Can I arrange this for a family member in Ghana?
Yes, you can enquire on behalf of a loved one in Ghana or another destination. Tell us where the item needs to go and obtain the patient’s permission before sharing their information. The receiving country’s requirements and the item’s eligibility are checked before an arrangement is confirmed.
Can a prescription from Ghana be used in the UK?
A Ghanaian prescription cannot generally be dispensed directly in the UK under the overseas-prescription recognition rules. It can help explain the request, but an appropriately authorised pharmacy or prescriber must confirm a lawful supply route. Further clinical assessment or a UK-valid prescription may be required; we cannot guarantee that one will be issued.
Can you find a medicine or device that is unavailable locally?
You can ask us to explore UK availability. Please provide the exact medicine name and strength, or the device brand, model and specification. Stock, suitability and lawful supply must be confirmed. Any proposed medicine alternative needs review by an authorised clinician or pharmacist; a different medicine will not be substituted simply because it is easier to source.
Can every item be sent by post or courier?
The delivery route depends on the product, destination and carrier. Controlled medicines, refrigerated products, devices with batteries and other restricted items can need specialist handling or permissions, or may be unsuitable for the available route. We confirm what is possible before you agree to proceed.
How much does it cost, and how long will delivery take?
Your quote depends on the item, quantity, review requirements, destination and delivery option. It should identify item costs, coordination, any clinical or dispensing fees, delivery and known import costs, including charges payable by the recipient. Delivery timing is an estimate and can change with stock, permits or customs clearance. No fixed price or delivery date is promised when you submit an enquiry.
What if my request cannot proceed, or I need to cancel?
Our team will explain if availability, supply rules or delivery restrictions prevent the request from proceeding. Before you approve a purchase, ask about cancellation, returns and any non-refundable supplier, assessment or shipping fees. Medicines and devices can have different return conditions; the terms for your arrangement are confirmed with the quote.
